The "Kenjo Tezome Yuzen no Koi: Kyō Nishiki" realistically expresses the elegant form of nishikigoi (ornamental carp) with the brushstrokes of Japanese-style painter Shunho Tokunaga. The unique colors of nishikigoi are dyed with a seven-color gradation, and fan-shaped gold accents are applied to the entire scales. To resemble real nishikigoi, each black, red, and blue carp is dyed with a different pattern. The streamers, themed with water and sky, feature a traditional Japanese indigo gradation adorned with auspicious cranes. The material is a special three-dimensional woven fabric, a new material that shimmers with a silvery-white luster when exposed to sunlight.

Shunho Tokunaga, founder of Tokunaga Koinobori,
is a leading Japanese-style painter in Okayama.

Studying under Shinsui Ito, famous for his bijin-ga (paintings of beautiful women), Shunho created unprecedentedly elegant and graceful koinobori with his unique worldview and delicate brushwork characteristic of Japanese painting, shocking the industry.

His representative koinobori works include "Keishuku no Koi Kitcho" and "Kenjo Tezome Yuzen no Koi: Kyō Nishiki." These hugely popular works have continued to be long-sellers across generations.

Many people associate "Tokunaga Koinobori" with "Kyō Nishiki," a carp streamer that has remained a long-selling item since its launch, with a design that never fades. The polyester jacquard woven fabric is light and lively, creating a dynamic effect as it swims. Gold foil is applied along the scales, and combined with the fabric's luster and colors, it provides an even greater sense of three-dimensionality and dynamism. True to its name "Yuzen," the traditional hand-dyeing by artisans reproduces the classical aesthetic and the "Nishikigoi" painted by the Japanese-style painter, embodying tradition and shining beautifully. Its presence and elegance are undoubtedly a timeless symbol of carp streamers.

The "Kyō Tsuru (crane) Streamer" is simple yet balanced with the vivid colors of Kyō Nishiki, featuring a gradation of blue with scattered cranes. Since it has two blue lines, it is generally recommended to use blue for family crests and names as well. This creates a powerful carp streamer with a blue gradation fluttering like the sky above it. The white areas of the fabric shimmer with a silvery-white light, making the family crest appear to float.
